A brief little story about the ‘why’ behind Lil’ B’s

Hello, my name is Cindy. My oldest daughter is Jessika. Together we are the owners and producers of Lil' B’s Tallow products. Our goal is to provide natural and healthy options in skin care for our customers. Our mascot is Jessika’s youngest son, who we adoringly call Lil’ B. He has brought so much joy to the family! He is a happy and healthy baby! His timing into this world has been perfect in every way. He has not only brought great big smiles and laughter, he has brought much needed healing. He is miraculous to us and a gift from God! It made sense to have the spirit of what he represents to us, represent this company. We hope our products bring healing, healthier skin and lots of smiles to all those who use them!

The following, hopefully short story, is literally how Lil’ B’s Tallow came to be.

Once upon a time my elderly mother decided to move to Arizona to live near my family and me. Part of her transition involved my assistance getting her set up with all her health care needs. One of her health issues at 90 years of age has been a very uncomfortable skin rash. After taking her to several doctors and specialists, the rash continued to cause her discomfort. Even with all the doctor visits, prescriptions and expensive creams it had persisted and caused her great discomfort. I proceeded to consult my naturolpathic physician for better creams for her. Those seemed to work so much better, but they were also expensive. A lot of the natural products proved more helpful, but they were too costly, especially since she lives on a fixed income. In an attempt to resolve this problem, I decided to look into creating some salves that might be able to help her out. After a ton of research, many salve creations and testing, I came up with some recipes that I was pleased with. My Mom has been happy about them too. She finally has a product that is healing and comfortable for her skin. Mission accomplished!

Right about this time during my salve making days, I was sitting on my couch watching but not watching TV, thinking about my mom, salves and my eldest daughter who just had her 3rd beautiful baby boy. I had some grand creative thoughts that ended up in a phone call to my daughter that started something like, ‘Hey, I have an idea!’ Jessika was aware of my salve adventures with her grandma. Every time we got together or spoke, I admittedly was probably talking about tallow. I was obsessed! It all made sense to me. Jessika is a very experienced and skilled businesswoman who has committed herself to be a full-time mommy with Lil’ B but really enjoys her work. She was looking for a way to do both. I had all kinds of ideas flooding my mind on that couch. My idea would allow her to be with Lil’ B and use her mad business skills, plus, I would get to spend more time with them ;-). I would create and make all the products and ship them (I love creating), and she would handle all the business and marketing aspects. She loved the idea! We jumped on it! Fast forward and Lil’ B’s Tallow was born!

So far, we offer three salves ‘Gentle', ‘Sweet Orange’ and ‘Healing Lavender’. All three of them are loaded with fresh smelling, skin healing ingredients but the primary ingredient in our products that I want to highlight is the ‘grass fed tallow’. Grass fed is important when it comes to tallow because not all tallow is created equal. Grass fed tallow contains amazing ingredients that can be very beneficial to our skin. It’s rich in omega 3 fatty acids that help soften and protect the skin while acting as anti-inflammatory. It also contains linoleic acid. This fatty acid keeps the skin strong and prevents moisture loss while fortifying the skin barrier. It repairs, protects and defends our skin against environmental aggressors, like pollution and UV damage. It's amazing stuff! It's even full of vitamins A, D, E and K. I should also add that it absorbs into the skin beautifully! In scientific studies, scientists have found that tallow is very similar to the chemistry of the human skin. A simple way to put it, tallow is bio-compatible with our skin. It absorbs into the skin like no other oil or butter. It feels fantastic! It moisturizes and nourishes the skin and all without clogging pores.

We currently have eight different soaps available at Lil’ B’s. Our original soap is Milk & Honey. I absolutely love this one. The scent and lather are lovely and it leaves your skin soft and clean. You can check them all out on our soap page. We have something for everyone. We even have a healthy soap for your pups! All the ingredients are safe and nourishing for your dog's skin as well. Soaps made with tallow feel amazing! You don’t get that dry tight feeling after cleansing. Instead, the skin just feels clean, refreshed and soft. It also feels great to know that your skin is being nourished in the process.

We understand that there are so many options available for skin care products on the market. It can be a daunting task reading labels and trying to figure out what is good for our skin. So many products these days are full synthetic colorants, dyes and unnatural preservatives, none of which is good for us. I want you to know that you will NEVER find those ingredients in our products! If it's not a benefit to the skin, it's NOT going in! Period! I have found like many others that a good rule of thumb for products is to select ones with quality ingredients, that promote healing and that are nutrient rich for our skin. Grass fed tallow provides all those qualities.

We know there are people that prefer other oils or butters for their skin care products, variety is a beautiful thing. But we're convinced that grass fed tallow is one of the best options out there for skin. It's been around for centuries and has stood the test of time. We are really amazed by it! We love the way it absorbs, the way it feels and the nourishment it provides for the skin.
